MEET BUCK
PROVEN LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Buck was born just inside of Houston in 1961. Moving to Pearland in the 60’s, he and his family have deep roots in the community. Buck has two sons, Beau and Wyatt who attend Pearland ISD. Buck enjoys dancing, traveling, movies, antique stores, cooking and working in the yard and with wood crafts.
Buck’s father, B.J. Stevens, was a well-known police officer here in Pearland after retiring from Houston Police Department. Although Buck did not go directly into law enforcement, he was around the all aspects of it and lived it for many years as a young man growing up here. After college, Buck did attend the police academy at Alvin Community College in 1979 but went to work in the petrochemical industry.
In 1984, Buck was hired at the Hitchcock Police Department and later served 5 years with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. Buck also worked as a Fire Marshal for Brookside Village for 5 years.
In 1996, Buck was approached by a group of local businessmen and elected officials to consider running for the office of Constable. In 1997, Buck successfully unseated the incumbent and has remained in office since that time. Buck was also part-owner in a successful business in Pearland that still thrives today under new ownership.
Since holding office, Buck has raised the bar for all Constables in Brazoria County by being innovative, progressive and a leader in the civil and administrative areas of law. Buck was one of the first 30 Constables in the State of Texas to receive a Civil Process Proficiency Certification and achieve the designation of CLI (Constable Leadership Institute)
He has specialized in Civil Process and Warrant Service and has ensured that his entire staff has the latest in resources, training and equipment. He is currently certified as a Master Peace Officer, Police Instructor, a Telecommunication Operator, Crime Prevention Specialist, Environmental Law Officer, Mental Health Certification and trained as a Hostage Negotiator and Police Chaplain. He also instructs in bike, helmet and child seat safety.
Buck also served his community for over 28 years as a volunteer firefighter and retired in 2010 at the rank of Assistant Chief. He still holds the credentials of Advanced Certified Firefighter, Fire/Arson Investigator and is an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M Fire School. Buck also has over 20 years in Emergency Management.
